This is her favorite place to ride when we are in the Motel parking lots. Yep, I go real slow!

Some colorful formation just before we arrived at St Johns.

I've been to so many Indian reservations in my liftime and they are all pretty much the same. Almost all of the building in extreme disrepair, and litter everywhere. Makes one wonder what we are doing wrong.

This must be a peaceful area.
Arriving near the Zuni Pueblo in NW New Mexico.

We passed on the trinkets sold here hoping to find some in the Zuni Pueblo. Unfortunately, everything there was closed so we will have to find something between St Johns and Phoenix.

After the second stop all I here is "okay grandpa let's go, my hundred bucks is gone."

Alright, time to do some serious shopping.
I think the ability to be on a phone 24/7 must be tied to some random female chromosome. I usually run out of things to say in 15 seconds or less. I think she might set a record.....................2300 miles of nonstop texting.

She's thinking thim might be a good mountain bike.

I really liked this tree.

Yep, I was here.
This one looks pretty cool.

It is really hard to take a photo that really shows the depth of the canyon. I tossed her about thirty feet over the side of the canyon for this shot and It isn't too bad.
We are still down by the river here and you can see the big dam at the back of the picture.

The height of these vertical walls is so impressive. So is the size of some of the pieces that have fallen off from the tops. I guess we are just being foolishly bold when we walk to the edge and peer over.

They really went the extra mile in constructing some of the viewing platforms here.
The view of the canyon walls looking up from the river were awsome. Sure glad I didn't have to hike down and then climb back out. Whew! horible thought.

This guy likes it here too.

There is a dam on the gunnison down at the end of the road. It has a power plant, but I didn't see any power lines.

This little short dam about a half mile downstream from the big dam creates a nice fishing lake.
If you turn right immeadiately after entering the park you are treated to a very twisty 5 mile road with a 16 percent downgrade. The views are pretty good too!

Black Canyon of the Gunnison is a fairly small NP, but it is well worth the visit.

On the ride out to the park, the roadsides were covered in these lupens.
Redstone was a pretty cool Coal Mining town. The guy who owned it though all of his employees should have a house of the style that they wanted. He hired a architect that did just that. Just outside of the city were these coal smelters, but I forgot what they do. I'm sure you can google that if you are really interested.

There were quite a few coal mines in the area. I'm sure I rode this road once before with Patience when we were returning from  a rally in Custer, SD.
When we left Redstone, we came across several old cars that were having an event in town.

The highway out of town took us out of the mountains and we really enjoyed these high speed sweepers. Fortunately, Patience like a little spirited riding.

This footbridge went across the river in Redstone, so I footed on across it.

After a nice heavy lunch, Patience saw this tire swing and decided it would be a good time to just get sick.
These three were all taken from the same location, just different angles. Somewhere between Carbondale and Redstone.

This is the only mountain that I saw in Colorado that stands alone.

As you exit Independence Pass on the west end you come into Aspen, the famous ski town. That is one of the ski slopes on that mountain.

On the pass, all of the view are magnificent, and none of the road edges are guarded. I took this picture of one that wasn't too steep. I like the camera in my pocket and not my hand when they are straight down.

a view on  independence pass.

Actually I've figured it out, this is one of the twin lakes at the beginning of independence pass on the east side.

The pic below is the main street in Leadville.

I'm not sure where these next three are from. Maybe some of you can figure it out

Another self portrait just not sure of the look trying to be captured.
Sorry about the slow updates. We sort of took a day off to rest on Friday the 18th. I'll try to get things caught up now, but that is three days worth, although not a lot of pics today. We are staying in St. Johns tonight and actually have a pretty good wi fi connection.

OK Sherm, enough of your horseplay.

This was her pick for dinner tonight. So so at best.
There are a lot of really great rock ledges, but I haven't seen climber one! Maybe it's the thin air, sure seems to stop me.
